Degree sikes

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The degree Sikes (Sykes) , named after the British inventor Bartholomew Sikes, was a unit of alcohol content used in Great Britain until 1980 . The Sikes hydrometer was immersed in an alcohol-containing liquid, weighed down with weights and thus made to sink in. The alcohol content of the liquid was then determined from the information on the scale with the help of a table.

1 degree sikes = 0.6 vol%
