Châteaudun county

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The county of Châteaudun was a French medieval county with the capital Châteaudun north of Blois .

Count Theobald I of Blois († 975) brought Châteaudun into his possession and established the vice-county of Châteaudun there in 967 , through which the land was administered in his name and that of his descendants.

The county of Châteaudun was subsequently inherited like the county of Blois . Margarete , Countess of Blois, † 1230, was still titled as Countess of Châteaudun. Her grandson John I, Count of Blois, no longer called himself Count von Châteaudun, but Count von Dunois .
