The Gran Ferrocarril de la Ceiba was a narrow-gauge railway in Venezuela operated from 1895 to 1945 .
Route
The 81.5 km long route with a gauge of 914 mm (3 feet ) led from La Ceiba (es) via Sábana de Mendoza (es) to Roncajolo train station in Motatán (es) . At kilometer 17.5, there was a 4.6 km junction to the central La Ceiba sugar factory .

At least one of the locomotives was manufactured by Hanomag in Germany. The locomotive had an unusually high boiler, as it was assumed that a high center of gravity would soften the impact of the vehicle against the track, which should also protect the locomotive. They went beyond what was absolutely necessary, making the internal engine very easy to access.
