The water tower

The Grenzlandturm in Racibórz (Ratibor) is a former water tower from the 1930s.

The 45 meter high tower was planned in 1926 and built from 1933 to 1937 on the western outskirts of the city and opened for use as early as 1935. Inside there are two water tanks with a total capacity of 1200 m³.

During the time of National Socialism, an imperial eagle with a swastika and the words “ Deutschland, Deutschland über alles ” were attached to the tower.

After 1945 it was no longer used as a water tower because of its high water pressure. Today part of a confectionery factory is located in the building. For some time the local radio station Radio Vanessa also had its seat in the tower.
