The Grigorowitsch DG-58 ( Russian Григорович ДГ-58 , also Grigorowitsch PB-1 , ПБ-1) is a two-seat, single - engine, low - wing dive bomber of Soviet origin. The machine was developed in 1937.

development

The machine was made entirely of metal, self-supporting, and had a retractable rear wheel landing gear. The horizontal stabilizer was braced. The bombs were carried in an internal weapons bay. The hydraulically deployable dive brakes were perforated. The crew sat one behind the other in two separate cockpits.

At this time, the Soviet government called for an armed reconnaissance aircraft and light multi-purpose aircraft, the Ivanov program, in which Grigorovich also wanted to participate. The aim was to replace the Polikarpow R-5 . The machine was then redesigned. This variant was called DG-58R or DG-58bis, but could not be completed before Grigorowitsch's death and therefore did not take part in the program. Also represented in the competition were the Kotscherigin R-9 , the ChAI-5 and a prototype by Polikarpow.
