A tongs , and bratwurst or Serving is a long handled forceps from metal or wooden skid-resistant with two, often scoop-shaped gripping surfaces at the ends. It is used for grilling and is used to place, turn and pick up food on the hot grill.

Wooden grill tongs are usually made of beech wood, as this is food-safe and not harmful to health. Stainless steel grill tongs are more heat-resistant than wooden grill tongs and can also reach directly into the embers and are also suitable for grilling over an open fire. The long handle of the tongs prevents burns when using on a charcoal or gas grill or over an open fireplace. So that the heat cannot be passed on with metal pliers, they have a handle or grip panels made of leather , plastic or wood. Grill tongs are available in various different designs. Usually they either consist of two parts that are joined together like scissors in the middle, or of just one component that is bent in the middle.

In the north-west of India and in neighboring parts of Pakistan , common household or cymbal grill tongs, which are called Chimta in the North Indian languages, are also used as percussion instruments in folk and religious music.
