The large stone graves in Fuhrenkamp are a group of three grave complexes of the Neolithic funnel cup culture near the municipality of Lastrup in the district of Cloppenburg ( Lower Saxony ). They have the Sprockhoff numbers 965–967.

location

The three graves are located about 3.5 km southwest of the center of Lastrup and about 1.3 km southwest of the Oldendorf district in a wooded area known as Fuhrenkamp . The facilities are very close to each other: Grave 2 is about 30 m east of grave 1 and grave 3 about 80 m southeast of grave 2. About 800 m northeast of the group is the large stone grave Oldendorfer Hünensteine in the same forest .

description

Grave 1

The grave has a mound with a length of 35 m and a width of 17 m. The hill reaches a maximum height of 1.4 m and is oriented almost east-west. The stones fall into two groups: In the west there are nine stones, mainly wall stones. Somewhat separated from it are seven other stones to the east, none of which are in situ . Based on this finding, Sprockhoff was unable to clearly reconstruct the original appearance. Both two burial chambers in a mound and one elongated burial chamber are possible.

Grave 2

Grave 2 also has an east-west oriented mound formation. The hill reaches a height of 2 m, but has strong disturbances. Only four wall stones remain of the burial chamber, which are the closing stone of the eastern narrow side and two stones of the northern and one of the eastern long side.

Grave 3

Grave 3 has the best state of preservation within the group. It also has an east-west oriented mound of about 1 m height. When Sprockhoff took the picture, 13 stones were still present: the two wall stones on the narrow sides as well as three of the northern and four of the southern long sides were still in situ. There were also three shifted cap stones and one stone of unclear function. The middle capstone and two of the north wall stones were later stolen.
