Big Bochse

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Grose Bochse (large rifle) was a giant medieval gun of the Teutonic Order . It was cast in several parts between June and September 1408 and probably had a plug or screw construction to connect the flight and the powder chamber. The dimensions of the non-preserved gun even exceeded the Faule Grete, which was completed shortly afterwards, and should have been in the order of magnitude of the Pumhart von Steyr .

Other well-known giant guns from the 15th century are the bronze-cast Faule Mette von Braunschweig and the rod ring guns Dulle Griet from Gent and Mons Meg .
