Ground tying
Ground tying - in German about tying to the ground - is a term from western riding that says that a horse remains standing with the reins hanging on the ground as if tied.
Like the disciplines of western riding, ground tying goes back to the necessities of cowboy life . Often times the rider had to dismount and take care of anything other than his horse without having an opportunity to tie the horse. Therefore, horses are taught by cowboys to stand still as soon as and as long as the reins are on the ground.
