Grubusch

Grubusch is a deserted area in the urban area of Erkelenz in the Heinsberg district in North Rhine-Westphalia .

The settlement, which perished in the Middle Ages, lay east of Erkelenz in the direction of today's village of Terheeg . The name was passed down in the field names Am Grubusch and Grubuscher Feld . Today the street name Am Grubusch also reminds of the former settlement, the street leads to the neighboring village of Wockerath to the south .

Grubusch was first mentioned in a document in 1309 . Several Erkelenz family names that were named after this place have come down to us from the 15th century .

The name has been handed down in different spellings: Grubusch, Gruytbusch, Grutbusch, Gubosch and Grobbusch.
