Grummore Broch

The remainder of the Grummore Broch (by Grum More) is in the grounds of a Caravan Club, off the B873 road, on the banks of Loch Naver in Sutherland , Scotland .

Today the Broch is a large pile of stones overgrown with trees. It has an inside diameter of about 9.1 m and over 3.5 m thick, up to 3.0 m high walls with open collapsing chambers. The access passage in the west is blocked with rubble on the outside, is still partially covered and has a guard room and a door hinge. There is a wall chamber almost entirely filled with stones in the south-west wall and two in the south-east wall, as well as the remains of an intramural staircase in the north half. In 1865, WC Joass mentions a 3.5 m wide path or pier, which is only visible at low water, which ran into the lake, where it ended in deep water. Some plates, but no clear path, can still be seen in the water.
