history
Opened in 1934 in what was then Dolsthaida (today Lauchhammer-Süd ), an extension took place just one year later and the school complex was expanded several times in the following years. From 1969 to 1972, when a multi-purpose building with a school kitchen and dining room was built here.
From 1945 to 1958 the school had the status of a primary school, which it changed to a polytechnic high school (POS) after a reform of the educational system in the GDR . From then on it was called POS V Lauchhammer-Süd . In 1976 the name John Schehr was added in honor of the communist politician who was murdered in Berlin in 1934 , which the school dropped again after the fall of the Wall in 1991.
Due to the falling number of pupils, the school finally ceased operations after the 1999/2000 school year.
