Group excursion
In the railway sector , a group exit describes an operational situation in a train station , which is characterized by the following points:
- Several tracks converge over one or more switches on one track, on which there is a main signal (in this case also referred to as a group signal ), which can be both an intermediate signal and an exit signal and can allow trains to run for each of the tracks in front of it.
- The individual tracks are additionally protected by a blocking signal .
- The dispatcher's approval for a beginning or continuing train journey is given by setting the main signal to travel and also on the blocking signal belonging to the respective track in the form of Sh 1 or Ra 12 .
Nowadays, group trips are mainly used in marshalling yards and freight yards .
