The Guangxi University ( Chinese 廣西大學 / 广西大学 , pinyin Guǎngxī Daxue ) is a public university in Nanning , capital of the Chinese autonomous region of Guangxi .
Xī Dà (西 大) is also used as an abbreviation for Guangxi University.
history
It was founded in 1928; The founding president was the renowned natural scientist and educator Ma Junwu .
In 1936 the university was converted into a comprehensive university with a focus on the humanities, natural sciences, engineering, agriculture and medicine. In 1939 it became a state university. In 1952 the agricultural department was spun off and became independent. In 1997, the University and Agricultural College were merged into the new Guangxi University.

Guangxi University today has 18 colleges and a department on a campus with a size of 307 hectares and a built-up area of 745,000 square meters. The library has two million volumes and 200 professors teach at the university, including Nobel Prize winner Yang Zhenning .
