history

The Gundeldinger Feld has its origins in 1893. Its creator was August Burckhard , the son of a factory owner. His newly established factory produced vacuum pumps and compressors. Soon the factory employed over a hundred workers. After a few successful orders, their success was consolidated and the company secured a good reputation. After the turn of the century, some problems like the Great Depression and the World Wars had to be fought. But the factory managed to stay afloat. After getting past the biggest hurdle, business was better than ever and the company employed 500 people.

In the 1960s, there was strong competition from the nearby Sulzer concern. Ten years later, the latter took over the company completely, which then lived on under the name Sulzer-Burckardt. Shortly before the turn of the century, the Sulzer Group moved from Basel to its headquarters in Winterthur, the production site was sold and Kantensprung AG was granted the building permit.
