Guo Ji Zi Bai pan

Guo Ji Zi Bai pan ( Chinese  虢 季 子 白 盘 , Pinyin Guó Jì Zǐ Bái pán ) is a rectangular Chinese bronze vessel of the pan type from the time of the late Western Zhou Dynasty . In addition to the San shi pan ( 散 氏 盘 ) and Mao gong ding ( 毛公鼎 ), it is one of the famous three large bronze vessels of the Western Zhou dynasty (Xi Zhou san da qingtongqi 西周 三大 青铜器 ).

The vessel has a length of 130.2 cm, is 82.7 cm wide and 41.3 cm high. It is one of the largest bronze vessels from this period. It was excavated during the Daoguang period of the Qing Dynasty in Guochuansi ( 虢 川 司 ), Baoji , Shaanxi Province and is now in the collection of the National Chinese Museum of History .

It is a vessel with a longer inscription. The inscription consists of 111 characters. It tells of a victorious battle between Guo Ji Zi Bai and the Xianyun ( 獫 狁  /  猃 狁 , Xiǎnyǔn ), a north-western barbarian tribe , and that the King of Zhou gave a banquet on the occasion.
