Gylfi Magnússon (2009)

Gylfi Magnússon (* 1966 ) is an Icelandic economist and since 1998 Associate Professor of Business Administration at the University of Iceland . He is also the former head of the Icelandic Competition Authority ( Samkeppniseftirlitið ).

Gylfi graduated from high school in Reykjavík, studied economics at the University of Iceland until 1990 and received his doctorate in 1997 from Yale University in the United States.

Gylfi became Minister of Commerce in the minority government of Jóhanna Sigurðardóttir on February 1, 2009 . On October 1, 2009, he moved to the office of Minister of Economics. He resigned his ministerial post on September 2, 2010 and returned to the University of Iceland.
