Higher technical school for technology Mittelland

The Higher Technical School for Technology Mittelland (hftm; French école supérieure technique Mittelland ) was created in 2012 from three higher technical schools (Higher Technical College for Technology HF of the Canton of Solothurn, the Higher Technical School for Technology Biel-Bienne and HF Electrical Engineering Biel-Bienne). The two locations of the hftm are in Biel / Bienne and Grenchen . As a technical school, the HFT Mittelland offers practical training. Cooperation with industry and a broad-based sponsorship result in a constantly updated professional profile for HF technicians. More than 80 lecturers impart future-oriented skills to over 400 students.

Departments

The offer of the higher technical college is divided into five departments:

  • Mechanical engineering (construction technology, production technology)
  • System technology (automation / ICT and mechatronics)

In addition to the HF courses , the hftm offers preparatory courses for federal. Qualifications in the electrical field , postgraduate courses (NDS HF), as well as exciting further training in the technical field.

International cooperation and competitions

The exchange on an international level is an integral part of the Higher Technical School for Technology Mittelland. The robotics team hftm.team.solidus offers ambitious hftm students a platform to deepen their knowledge in the areas of automation, construction and programming and to compete in international competitions with teams from all over the world. The team is a member of the “Robocup Logistics League”. In accordance with the practical training as a technician, a production process is simulated in this league. The robots autonomously explore their surroundings, transport workpieces to production stations and then deliver them to the right customers. More information can be found in the link.
