In the 1960s, employees of the Oldenburg family business Hüppe (founder: Justin Hüppe), which at the time was involved in the construction of blinds and room partitions, brought the idea of a permanently installed splash guard for the bathtub to Germany after a visit to America. From this they developed shower enclosures that could be used either on the bathtub or on a shower tray. In 1966, Hüppe was the first manufacturer of shower enclosures in Germany.
In 1974 the Hüppe family founded the Hüppe Duscha company , which was exclusively concerned with the manufacture and sale of shower screens.
The Masco Corporation , a US-American group of companies with subsidiaries located around the world, among others from the furnishing and sanitary industry, took over Hüppe Duscha in 1986 and renamed the company to Hüppe GmbH & Co. KG .
In 1995, Hüppe GmbH & Co. KG took over the Spanish shower enclosure manufacturer Reser s. l., In 1997 the Turkish shower enclosure manufacturer Intermart was taken over, which in 2007 became Hüppe Insaat Malz. San. Tic. AS became. After Hüppe GmbH & Co. KG was renamed Hüppe GmbH in 2008, the Spanish subsidiary Reser also got the company name and became Hüppe SLU .
