The Hüttenhospital is a basic and standard care hospital with 164 beds in the Hörde district of Dortmund . The supporting company is Viactiv BKK .

history

The hospital was opened in 1858 by the Hörder Bergwerks- und Hütten-Verein . A company health insurance fund established in 1842 had already existed for employees. The hospital grew rapidly from 17 beds to 48 beds. The nursing of the sick was carried out by the Sisters of Mercy of St. Vincent guaranteed by Paul . Due to the increasing lack of space, the decision was made to build a new building in 1911. This was inaugurated in 1913 and offered space for over 150 beds. From the 1920s, the hut hospital was opened first to family members of factory employees, and later also to the general population. During the Second World War , the building was partially destroyed by bombs. By creating an extension, the capacity could be increased to almost 200 beds.

In 1995 the surgical department was closed and the focus was on internal medicine and geriatrics.
