Sona Ghazarian

Sona Ghazarian (* 2 September 1945 in Beirut ) is an Armenian - Austrian opera singer in the vocal range lyric coloratura soprano .

Life

Sona Ghazarian studied psychology at the American University of Beirut and singing at the National Conservatory there . After further studies at the Accademia Musicale Chigiana in Siena and the Accademia di Santa Cecilia in Rome , she moved to the Vienna State Opera in 1972 , where she sang from the 1970s to the 1990s. Her most notable roles include Oscar in Un ballo in maschera and Violetta in La traviata by Giuseppe Verdi .

In 1973 Ghazarian made his debut at the Salzburg Festival as Barbarina in Le nozze di Figaro , where she then sang Blonde in The Abduction from the Seraglio in 1975 and Marzelline in Beethoven's Fidelio in 1983 . She made her debut at the Metropolitan Opera in 1987 as Adina in Donizetti's L'elisir d'amore, where she also sang Musetta in Puccini's La Bohème in 1989 . Today Sona Ghazarian works as a singing teacher in Vienna.

In Austria Ghazarian became a chamber singer . She has sung over 70 roles in major opera houses in Europe and the United States.

Ghazarian is married to Commercial Councilor Gerhard Skoff from Grimmenstein , Lower Austria.
