Conservatoire Libanais
The Conservatoire libanais national supérieur de musique or The Lebanese National Higher Conservatory of Music is the Lebanese national music academy . It was founded in the 1920s by Wadih Sabra (1876–1952), the composer of the national anthem of Lebanon .
Sabra intended to establish an institute for higher musical education. At the conservatory, which was directed from 1991 to 2011 by the composer and conductor Walid Gholmieh , more than 4,800 students were taught by 250 professors. The Conservatory has offices in Tripoli , Jounieh , Dhour El Choueir , Zahlé with headquarters in Beirut , Aley and Sidon .
Since 1999 the Conservatory has had two orchestras:
- Orchester symphonique nationale du Liban
- Orchester national de musique arabe (47 musicians)
