H season license plate
The H season license plate is a German license plate for historic vehicles ( oldtimers ), which also includes a seasonal license . It combines the properties of the oldtimer license plate (recognizable by the "H") with the seasonal license plate available in Germany since 1997 . The corresponding amendment to Section 9 (3) FZV can be found in the Federal Council's printed matter 770/16 . It is made clear here:
"Vintage license plates according to paragraph 1 [...] can also be assigned as seasonal license plates."
Until the FZV was changed by the 3rd Amendment Ordinance, the issue of a temporary H label was not permitted. The allocation of this new type of license plate can be requested from October 1, 2017.

For the allocation of an H season number plate, the motor vehicle must meet the same requirements as for the allocation of the conventional classic car registration . In principle, the date of first registration must have been at least 30 years ago. In addition, the vehicle must be largely in its original condition and be used to maintain the vehicle's technical heritage. According to § 23 StVZO, this fact must be documented by a classic car report from a recognized test center or an expert.
With regard to seasonal approval, the following applies: The operating period must be at least 2 and at most 11 months. Outside the operating period specified on the license plate, the vehicle may not be used or parked on public roads if the requirements according to § 16 or § 16a FZV are not met.
Advantages of the H season license plate
The H seasonal license plate combines the advantages of the conventional H and seasonal license plates. Car owners historical vehicles on the one hand benefit from the small motor vehicle load control of vintage car registration, on the other hand you save the regular passage to the approval body , additions to the vehicle and log off. The introduction of the H season license plate brings advantages for vehicle owners, including time and cost savings.
