H.263

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

H.263 is a standard of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) for video decoding with compression from 1995/96, which is also contained in Part 2 of the MPEG-4 standard of the Moving Picture Experts Group .

H.263 describes a video data format that is primarily intended for video conferences. It is optimized for low data transmission rates (below 64 kbit / s, i.e. ISDN speed ) and relatively little movement, although the standard itself does not define any specific data transmission rates.

H.263 is a further development of the H.261 standard, which is mainly used as the starting point for the development of MPEG with optimization for higher data transfer rates. It contains a component for strong temporary compression and works best with sequences that show little change between the individual images.
