Hermon Hosmer Scott founded HH Scott, Inc. in 1946. The brand name was used to distinguish it from EH Scott, the "Scott Radio Company of Chicago". A year later the Scott Dynaural preamplifier and the first hi-fi amplifier were introduced. For the first time, Scott's devices allowed radio stations to use Dynaural Noise Reduction to transmit music stored on records and tapes true to the original and with almost no noise. In 1952 HH Scott introduced the integrated amplifier of the first so-called "slim line", the TYPE Scott 99-A , followed two years later by the world's first broadband tuner, VHF and medium wave (FM / AM). In 1958 the Stereomaster product family was introduced. Scott was the first hi-fi manufacturer to use transistors in FM tuners in 1966. Further innovative devices followed in the 1970s.

HH Scott, Inc. was founded in 1985 by Emerson Radio Corp. bought up. In 1999, the Alfa Group, a Hong Kong-based industrial and financial company, acquired the rights to use the Scott brand. Like the brand Tamashi is she in Europe SOCRIMEX mainly via the Metro AG sold.

In view of the high purchase price, classic devices from HH Scott were already rare at the time of construction and still fetch very high prices from collectors today.
