The Club Hokeja na Ledu Sisak is a Croatian ice hockey club from Sisak , which was founded in 1934 as ŠK Slavija and plays in the Croatian ice hockey league. Since the club does not have an ice rink but only an open ice rink, the club does not regularly take part in the championship.
history
In the early 1930s, students in Sisak began to play ice hockey. In 1934, an ice hockey department was founded within ŠK Slavija , which first took part in the Yugoslav championship in 1937 . In 1938, the entire ice hockey department was taken over by the capital club HAŠK Zagreb , with the players receiving money for trips to Zagreb , while training continued in Sisak. In the winter of 1942, the team played their last game under the name HAŠK Zagreb, before the game was suspended due to the Second World War .
In 1946, the ice hockey team was re-established as a division of the Fiskulturnog Društva Naprijed football club, which was later renamed Sportskog Društva Segesta . In 1965 the sections for ice skating, ice hockey and roller sports were outsourced to an independent club, the KKHLK Segesta Sisak . In 1972 this club was incorporated into the Sportskog društva INA Sisak . This sports club was supported by the state oil company Industrija nafte (INA), which remained loyal to the ice hockey department as the main and name sponsor until the end of the 2000s.
In the 1970s and 1980s, the club won the second Yugoslav division several times and twice made promotion to the first division. It is currently the only club in the Croatian ice hockey league that is not from the capital, Zagreb.
