haOlam haZeh

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

haOlam haZeh ( Hebrew העולם הזה“This World”) was a politically left-wing Israeli news and entertainment magazine that was founded in 1937 and appeared until 1993, which was critical of the government's policies, particularly towards its Arab neighbors. It has been published since 1950 by Uri Avnery , who was also editor-in-chief until 1990.

The magazine became known for its combination of investigative reports and the, on the other hand, rather boulevard-like presentation.

The news and entertainment section, in which erotic photos could occasionally be seen, were clearly separated: the front section was the news magazine, the entertainment magazine was printed upside down in the back half of the magazine, so that you had two magazines "in no time at all" .

There was also a party under the same name in the 1960s, on whose list Uri Avnery ran for the Knesset election.

HaOlam haZeh has nothing to do with the newer, German-language online publication haOlam.de.
