Habitica (formerly HabitRPG ) is an online time management application. In contrast to most other management programs, Habitica tries to keep elements of time management attractive and motivating for users through gamification in the form of a role play . It is developed and maintained by OCDevel. The project itself is under the free GPL license .
Habitica allows the user to set good and bad habits and gain or lose experience points by fulfilling them. One-off tasks can also be created. Should the user fail to follow a desired habit or follow a bad habit, his character loses life points. If the character loses all life points, the user is reset a full level and also loses an item that is randomly selected from his inventory. If, on the other hand, the user can gain sufficient experience in good time by completing tasks, a level rise and thus a complete life of the character can be achieved. For the achievement of tasks, gold and silver pieces are credited in addition to experience points, which can be used to buy rewards that can either be redeemed in the game or that the user can configure himself and redeem in real life.
