Hackus and Knees
Hackus and Knieste is a simple dish typical of the Harz region . It mainly consists of carefully cleaned, halved, oil-coated potatoes ( knees ) seasoned with salt and caraway seeds , which are baked on a baking sheet at around 200 ° C for one hour in the stove. It is served with minced meat ( hackus ) and cucumber mixed with onion and egg yolk and seasoned with salt and pepper . The meat can crude as minced , or fried, like a meatball , are to served. There are numerous variations of the knee, for example the caraway can be replaced by other spices.
