Hook chain
The hook chain is a particularly robust sling . It is often used in the crane sector to fasten loads. In the fire brigade you can occasionally find them as a spreader chain .
A hook chain consists of an eyelet to which one or more chains are attached with a hook at the end. Depending on the number of chains, these hook chains are called H-1, H-2 or H-4 hook chains. The technical requirements for hook chains result from DIN 5688/8. The maximum load capacity of a multi-chain hook chain decreases with the spreading of the chains. With a typical two-chain hook chain (H-2), the maximum load capacity is 1.39 times higher at a spread of 90 ° than at a spread of 120 °.
