Lifting boom

A particularly large, usually wooden lever arm is called a lifting boom or balancing boom . It is used as required for various purposes according to the principles of the law of leverage .

Lifting trees are used as hoists by the military , fire brigades and technical relief organizations . They are used to lift loads so that a lifting bag can be pushed under. The application limits of this tool are determined by the body weight or the strength of the people operating it and the strength of the wood.

The huge stones of the megalithic cultures and probably also the Egyptian and Aksumite obelisks were erected by means of lifting trees . They were later used in other ways in oil presses .
