As hemivertebra a developmental disorder refers to a vertebra , wherein a portion of a vertebral body is not formed. Depending on the location of the missing part of the vertebral body, a distinction is made between lateral (lateral), back (dorsal) or abdominal (ventral) hemivertebrae. In the case of a wedge vertebra , on the other hand, the affected part is only dysplastic , i.e. incomplete.
