Absolute Redemption is a single player mod for the computer game Half-Life . Originally offered for free download by Maverick Developments in October 1999 as Redemption , it was officially released in November 2000 by Valve and Sierra Entertainment in the Half-Life Platinum Collection. It is now available again for free.

action

In Absolute Redemption , the player takes on the role of the scientist Gordon Freeman again , who previously had to fight and banish aliens on Earth after a failed teleportation experiment in Half-Life . Now its task is to seek out three special butterflies, so-called Telnorps , in order to close the portal between the worlds Xen and Zan , which oppress the Xen .

The player is teleported to a temple in the Himalayan mountains, to a hype that offers aliens as a main attraction, to the fortress of an arms dealer and finally to Xen , in order to close the portal to Zan with the help of the Telnorps . Gordon Freeman receives the orders from the mysterious G-Man , who is constantly observing what is happening.

It remains unclear what kind of research institute the player is in at the beginning of the plot; Much suggests that it is Black Mesa from Half-Life , as the typical scientists and security guards can be seen, speaks against the fact that Black Mesa was destroyed after the plot of Half-Life , which, however, was not done until that Add-on Opposing Force , which was released around the same time as Redemption , was uncovered.
