Hello, Mister Gott, this is Anna speaking is the German title of a book that was published in 1974 as Mister God, This Is Anna . The unknown author of the bestseller , which is now classified as children's and youth literature, hid behind the pseudonym "Fynn".

The London 's East End in the 1930s, during the Great Depression : the 19-year-old writer Fynn runs into a 5-year-old girl named Anna, that's ran away from home because it was probably hit by someone. Fynn takes Anna in and a deep friendship develops over the next "about three and a half years". Anna is characterized by the fact that, despite her childish age, she can express complex, often theological and philosophical contexts in simple words; she firmly believes in "Mister God". Anna dies shortly before her eighth birthday by falling from a tree onto a fence.

The story only roughly follows a chronological plot. Rather, many of Anna's findings are treated in episodes.

In 1987 a sequel appeared under the title Anna's Book . This contains Anna's left notes and letters, which were edited by Fynn. In 1990 the third and final "Anna" book, Anna and the Black Knight, was published . It is about Thomas Fox, Fynns and later Anna's math teachers.

The Theater in Medias res has the only author-approved stage version of the novel in the world. To date, the author has strictly refused to bring the novel to the stage for reasons of authenticity.

According to an English website, the author behind the pseudonym "Fynn" is said to have been the Englishman Sydney George Hopkins (1919–1999).
