Hamaland Museum was the name of a regional and folklore museum in Vreden in the Münsterland . The name referred to the Hamaland , an old district near Vreden.

In 2017, the museum was incorporated into the cult Westmünsterland .

history

The original museum was set up as a “Heimatstube” in 1926 and expanded into the Hamaland Museum in 1938 at the current location of the kult . In the 1970s and 1990s the museum was expanded in two stages. The last expansion took place in 2015, with the reopening in 2017 under a new name and concept. Parts of the museum's collection have been included in the kult's permanent exhibition , other parts have been stored or are on display in the kult in the open depot.

Historic courtyard

The Farmhouse Museum is an ensemble of currently eleven historical buildings that depict rural life in Westmünsterland in the 19th and early 20th centuries. This historic courtyard was part of the Hamaland Museum, about 300 meters away, from 1969.

The Farmhouse Museum has been run by the Vreden Community Foundation since 2019 and has been organizationally independent of the Hamaland Museum and cult since then .
