Hamburger box

Small safe

A hamburger crate is a special gun cabinet that is approved for the exclusive storage of a distress signal pistol and its ammunition on board a pleasure craft .

Origin of name

The Hamburger Kasten takes its name from the Hamburg water protection police , which laid down the building specifications for a gun cabinet for distress signal pistols. These building specifications are now recognized throughout Germany.

design type

In contrast to other gun cabinets or safes, there is no direct standard or building regulation for the Hamburg case; therefore the Hamburger Kasten does not have any classification and can in principle be built by yourself. The box must be made of sheet steel, the door must be at least four millimeters thick and it must be possible to lock it with a swivel bolt. The box must be firmly attached to the boat hull.

use

The Hamburger Kasten is used on sports boats on which a distress signal pistol is to be kept.
