Hannya ( Japanese 般若 ; * 1978 in Ōdate , Japan ), real name Yoshiho Takeda ( 武田 嘉 穂 , Takeda Yoshiho ), is a Japanese hip-hop artist and member of the rap group Mōsōzoku ( 妄 走 族 ) founded in 1998 . The pseudonym refers to a mask for the representation of malicious women in the Nō theater . His previous stage name was YOSHI .

life and work

In 1996 Hannya, based on his real name under his pseudonym YOSHI , is part of the Hannya group that he formed with DJ Baku and Rumi. After the group disbanded in 1998, Hannya kept the name for his solo career. From 1998 Hannya is a member of the group Mōsōzoku , with which between 1999 and 2004 a. a. five albums appear. Hannya takes part in various hip-hop events and in 2002 achieved second place in the annual freestyle battle , which emerged in 1999 from the "B Boy Park" event that has been taking place since 1997 in Yoyogi Park in Tokyo . In the final, Hannya faced rapper Kan ( 漢 ) from the MSC crew . The lyrics included a. a diss on the rap group Kick the Can Crew , whose member Kreva has emerged as the winner in all battles that have taken place since 1999 as part of the B Boy Park.

Hannya's solo career began in 2004 with the release of his first solo album Ohayō Nihon ( お は よ う 日本 ), a wake-up call to the Japanese rap world. His first music video is Chotto Matte ( ち ょ っ と ま っ て ). His debut album was followed by the release of the album Nekosogi ( 根 こ そ ぎ ) the following year, from which the titles Yacchatta ( や っ ち ゃ っ た ) and My Home appeared as music videos. In December of the same year, the release of the single Oretachi no Yamato ( オ レ 達 の 大 和 ) followed, which was inspired by the film Yamato - The Last Battle . The music video for this contains scenes from the same film.

Two months later, Hannya's third studio album was released in 2006 with the title Naibu Kokuhatsu ( 内部 告 発 ). From this album the titles Riyū ( 理由 ) and Saru ( 猿 ) were published as videos. In 2008 the album Doctor Tōkyō ( ド ク タ ー ト ー キ ョ ー , Dokutā Tōkyō ) with the music video Yume no Ato ( 夢 の 痕 ) and in 2009 the album named after himself Hannya was released.

In 2011 the album Black Rain appears , from which the album title of the same name is released as a music video.
