Hans Zehetmayer

Johann "Hans" Zehetmayer (born April 28, 1909 ; † unknown) was an Austrian amateur boxer, European champion and Olympic participant.

Zehetmayer became national middleweight champion in 1930, 1931 and 1932 and qualified as one of six Austrian boxers for the fourth European championship in Budapest in 1934 , where he won the gold medal in the light heavyweight division. He defeated Aleksander Reinke from Estonia in the quarter -finals, Willy Pürsch from Germany in the semi-finals and Roman Antczak from Poland in the final . This makes him the only Austrian boxer in history who has ever won a gold medal at an amateur European championship.

In 1935 and 1936 he was national light heavyweight champion and was qualified for the 1936 Summer Olympics, where he started as the second oldest middleweight boxer. There he lost his second fight against the Argentine Raúl Villarreal .
