Harpasa

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Harpasa ( Greek  Ἅρπασα ) was an ancient city in Asia Minor landscape Caria , today Arpaz at Esenköy in Turkey.

Harpasa was on the Harpasos (today Akçay ), a left tributary of the meander . There is said to have been a strange rock near it. In the late Hellenistic and Roman times, when the city belonged to the province of Asia , Harpasa minted coins. The titular Harpasa of the Roman Catholic Church goes back to a late antique bishopric of the city .
