Harshavarman I.
Harshavarman I († 923 ) ruled the Khmer Empire from 910 to 923 .
After the death of Yasovarman I. his two sons followed him to the throne. The Khmer empire seemed to quickly disintegrate after the death of her father. Harshavarman I, the elder son of Yasorvaman I, was the first to take power in 910 AD, and he continued his reign in the capital of Yashodharapura . The two brothers were embroiled in a power struggle with Jayavarman IV , their maternal uncle. The uncle may have left Angkor to build his own capital some 100 kilometers away.
Little is known about Harshavarman, including the fact that he built a small temple mount of Baksei Chamkrong at the foot of the Phnom Bakheng , which he dedicated to his parents. He died in 923 and was succeeded by his younger brother Ishanavarman II.
