Hauptstrasse 37 (Regenstauf)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The so-called Schmid-Haus , Hauptstrasse 37 in Regenstauf , was demolished in the summer of 2012. The main building dates from the 15th century. Until 2012, a medieval stepped gable was still preserved at the back and a baroque dance hall with a stucco ceiling on the upper floor. A post horn motif on a granite pillar in the outbuilding identifies the property as a historic post office. At first the house was not entered on the list of monuments. When a new building was planned in 2011, the Bavarian State Office for the Preservation of Monuments became aware of the monument status and placed the house under protection. The demolition was nevertheless approved by the Regensburg District Office as a lower monument protection authority, whereupon the house was demolished in summer 2012.
