Episcopal Foundation House Hall
House Hall is a former manor in Gescher .
From the foundation of the foundation in 1855 to around 1930, neglected boys were offered care, housing and work, mainly in agriculture. The Haus Hall Foundation has been an institution for people with disabilities and senior citizens since around 1930 . At various locations in western Münsterland, the foundation offers 2000 outpatient and inpatient places for people with disabilities in living areas and workshops , in early intervention and advice centers, in an integrative day-care center, a special school for intellectual development, and family support services. In addition, inpatient care for the elderly is affiliated with the foundation. At the main site in Gescher there are leisure and meeting opportunities for people with and without disabilities, a riding hall, a church and a cemetery. Up until the 1980s, around 500 disabled people lived on the private foundation premises of the former institution. In 2013, around 640 people with intellectual disabilities lived in decentralized inpatient living areas. Since the 1970s, outdoor living groups have been set up in structures similar to families in order to enable people with disabilities to live as normal and as close to the community as possible. In terms of outpatientization and decentralization, further decentralized outdoor living groups and homes were built in western Münsterland. Around 160 people with mental or psychological disabilities are accompanied in outpatient care. The workshops for people with disabilities at five locations were spun off into a non-profit subsidiary in 2005 and run as a gGmbH. Around 1050 people with mental and psychological disabilities work there.
The foundation operates a retirement and nursing home in Bocholt with 120 places as well as short-term care places and hospice places in the Guter Hirte Bocholt gGmbH.
