The house at Klosterstrasse 11 was a half-timbered building in the old town of Kassel . The Renaissance building from the 17th century stood on the corner of Zeughausstraße, Klostergasse and the “Vor dem Kloster” square until the Second World War .

Building design

The building was a three-sided free - standing half - timbered construction with four floors. The narrow side, approximately 9.5 meters wide, was divided into eight compartments, the approximately 12.5 meter long longitudinal fronts into ten each. Apart from its exposed location, the building, which protrudes far on the floors, was striking because of its rich facade decoration.

history

The building had a flood mark from 1642 on a corner stone. The construction time is estimated at around 1640. It was located in the immediate vicinity of the Kassel armory and the Ahnaberg monastery . The building probably burned down to the basement in the air raids of October 22, 1943 , today a new building from the 1950s is in its place.
