House Rommeljans

House Rommeljans (also Romilian or Romelian ) is a knight seat in Ratingen- Schwarzbach, formerly Honschaft Homberg.

history

The house is a former saddle farm , which is first mentioned in 1517 in a directory of the income of the Küsterei in Ratingen. Between 1551 and 1555, the von Buer gentlemen expanded it into a fortified knight's seat in the form of a moated castle with a tower. In 1555 Hermann von Buer had the Rommeljans house registered as a knight's seat. From then on, Rommeljans was run as a manor suitable for parliament. The house remained in the hands of the Buer family until 1758. The Buer'schen heirs from the Staël von Holstein family belonged to Rommeljans from 1758 to 1763, then to the Lauterbach family (1763–1784), the Spieker family (1784–1823) and, from 1823, the Thomashoff family, who were already on one in the 17th century neighboring yard.

Haus Rommeljans has been a listed building since May 31, 1985. In 1999, Rommeljans was extensively renovated. Today it is located on the grounds of the Düsseldorf Golf Club.
