The House Wall Street 45 is a since 1985 under monument protection standing half-timbered house in the historic town of Bad Laasphe which in 1695 as community center was built in the Baroque period. Two half-timbered floors rise above a stone ground floor.

The dating is based on a dendrochronological report from 2014, in which the felling date of a central bar was determined in the winter of 1694/95.

Owner story

The first known owner of the plot was Martin Ditzrod.

Around 1640 the tailor Matthias Hammer bought the property. In 1667 he was elected mayor and sat on the city council. It is unclear whether his eldest children Johannes (1641) and Anna Margarete (23 June 1644) were born here. Certainly the youngest daughter Anna Katharina (January 19, 1651), who died the following year. Matthias Hammer himself died on April 29, 1694.

The present house was built by his son Johannes Hammer. The reason for this was probably the death of his father and the takeover of the property. Johannes Hammer was a master tailor and had married Katharina Achenbach on April 26, 1668 (born December 31, 1650). The couple had eight children, of whom the tailor Johann Georg took over the house after the father's death on March 26, 1713.
