Architecture and history
The inauguration of the Art Nouveau house took place on May 17, 1906. It served as the union's cultural center. The architects of the plastered brick building were Kristen Rivertz and Heinrich Jürgensen . The client was Aalesund Arbeiderforening . The entrance portal is on the west side, is flanked by neoclassical columns and spanned by a triangular gable. The shape of the window and door openings is reminiscent of keyholes . The roof structure is made of a wood and steel structure. The building is covered by a gable roof . Until 1970 the house was in use as an event and club house. Then it was used as a business and warehouse. Today (as of 2017) it serves as a cultural center.
In 1985 the interior of the building was renovated. In 1997 the house was listed as a historical monument. The paintings in the stairwell were restored in 2004. The facade was renovated from 2002 to 2007.
