The Hazrat Sultan Mosque ( Kazakh Әзірет Сұлтан мешіті Äsiret Sultan meschiti ; Russian Хазрет Султан Chasret Sultan ) is a mosque in the Kazakh capital Nur-Sultan . Built between 2009 and 2012, it is currently the second largest mosque in Central Asia .

Construction of the mosque began on June 29, 2009. It is located to the northwest within sight of the pyramid of peace and harmony . After around three years of construction, it was inaugurated on July 6, 2012. Since then it has been the second largest mosque in Central Asia . Her name Hazrat Sultan translated into German means Holy Sultan; The mosque was named after Ahmed Yesevi , a poet and important representative of Sufism .

The Hazrat Sultan Mosque was built in the classic oriental style. The main color of the facade and the interior is white. Both the facade and the interior are decorated with traditional Kazakh ornaments. The dome of the mosque is 51 meters high and 28 meters in diameter. Eight other small domes are arranged around the large main dome. Four minarets , each 77 meters high, tower up at the four corners of the building .

The mosque has a floor area of ​​17,700 square meters and can accommodate up to 10,000 people. It has prayer rooms, a wedding hall, rooms for reading the Koran as well as a dressing room and a room for the ritual ablution before prayer. On the inner walls are the names of 25 prophets mentioned in the scriptures of the Muslim Ummah .
