The Hedelius Maschinenfabrik GmbH (proper spelling HEDELIUS ) is one of the leading manufacturers of CNC machining centers for many industries. It is based in the Lower Saxony city of Meppen.

History and present

The company was founded by Werner Hempelmann and Reinold Dettmer in Bünde in 1967 . At that time, the company specialized in the development and manufacture of woodworking machines such as B. Surface planers and thicknessers for the hobby and assembly sector.

In 1976 the company headquarters was relocated from Bünde to Meppen and the range was expanded to include other products such as machining units and special machines, e.g. B. extended indexing machines or transfer machines . In 1993, the family company built the first traveling column machining center. Gerhard and Jürgen Hempelmann developed a new type of semi-portal construction.

In 2004, production of the first generation of the Tiltenta series with a swiveling main spindle started. In 2008, the delivery program of the traveling column machining centers comprised five series in 3-, 4- and 5-axis versions. The production capacity was expanded in 2008 and has been continuously expanded since then, as have the storage and administration areas. In 2015, for example, the new demonstration and training center with over ten machines was added live, a year later a new central warehouse was built and the machine park in the company's own machining plant was expanded. Another year later, a hall for storage machines was inaugurated. The production, storage and administration areas amounted to over 15,000 m² in 2019.

Products and sales

The product range includes 3-, 4- and 5-axis traveling column machining centers with a working length (X-axis) from 500 to 4,600 mm and a working width (Y-axis) from 550 to 900 mm. The working heights (Z-axis) of the machines are 520 to 900 mm. The machines are used in many industries, such as tool and mold construction, general mechanical engineering, special machine construction, contract manufacturing, food and packaging technology, agricultural machine technology, medical technology, aerospace technology and plastics technology. The machines are equipped with CNC controls ( Computerized Numerical Control ) from Heidenhain or Siemens . Hedelius is a leading manufacturer of traveling column machining centers with precise 5-axis machining with both a swiveling main spindle and a rotary swivel table.

In addition to the construction and assembly of the machines, other services, in particular product training, CNC courses, application support, service, maintenance and repair work belong to the further field of activity.

The machines are sold directly in Germany and across Europe via a network of general agencies with their own logistics, spare parts stores, demonstration centers and service technicians. Germany has a turnover share of around 70%.
