Heike Selmer

Heike Selmer (born before 1988) is a German fashion designer and professor of fashion design in the fashion design department at the Berlin-Weißensee School of Art .

biography

Selmer studied fashion design in England from 1988 to 1993. In 1993 she graduated from the Royal College of Art in London with a Master of Arts.

From 2003 to 2006 Selmer taught as a lecturer and visiting professor at the Offenbach University of Design. In autumn 2006 she was appointed professor for fashion design at the Berlin-Weißensee School of Art. In 2010 she founded the research focus “GreenLab - Laboratory for Sustainable Design Strategies” together with the designer and artist Zane Berzina and the industrial designer Susanne Schwarz-Raacke.

2014 initiated Selmer together with Valeska Schmidt-Thomsen, a professor of fashion design at the University of the Arts (UdK), local international, an international project for fashion designer with a focus on sustainability. The project is a cooperation between the Goethe-Institut Bangladesh, the University of the Arts Berlin (UdK) and the Weißensee Art Academy Berlin.
