Heilandskirche in Scheibbs

The Heilandskirche Scheibbs is a Protestant church in the Lower Austrian town of Scheibbs . It is located in St. Georgner Straße 9 and belongs to the Evangelical Parish of A. and HB Melk-Scheibbs.

history

Before the church was built, the services had to be held in the town hall or in the school, so efforts to build a church had been made since the turn of the century. In 1953 a building site was purchased and in 1960 the decision was made to build the church according to a design by Scheibbs architect Oskar Scholz . In 1963, a state-approved house collection took place in the district, which enabled construction of the church to begin. The foundation stone was laid on July 5, 1964, and the ceremonial inauguration took place on August 25, 1968 by the bishop of the Evangelical Church, Gerhard May .

description

The church building is a simple hall with a gable roof , turrets and arched windows. The stained glass windows were designed by the Vienna academy professor Günther Baszel . In the west of the church there is a statue of Christ from the construction period.
